Prayer and Charity

Sunday June 28, 2:30-4:00 pm

And those to whom scripture was given did not become divided into sects
until after evidence had come to them.

But they were enjoined nothing more than to worship God with sincerity,
like the haneef, be regular in prayer and give charity, for this is true
religion.
(98: 4-5)

Prayer is a means of fostering your connection with God.

Different religious groups have different ways of prayer
and they make it a point of contention and division. It
is noteworthy the Quran speaks repeatedly about the
importance of prayer but does not prescribe a formulation for it.

Charity is described in the Quran as a cornerstone of
religion. To be charitable you have to be moved by people’s needs because you feel connected to God’s creatures.

Charity is based on understanding the wisdom that what we do to
others comes back to us because we and they are not separate.
